The Randstad Clipper Stad Amsterdam

This ship was commissioned by the municipality of Amsterdam, Aldermann Edgar Peer and the founder of Randstad, Frits Goldschmeding. It’s a modern 'extreme' Clipper, which was built on historic lines as a tribute to the quick and nimble clippers of the 19th century.
 
This initiative originated out of a desire to make a significant contribution to the lives of young people, school leavers and the unemployed by offering them valuable training and work experience. To this day, the ship is still used to train young people in navigational skills.
 
Of the overall construction time, estimated at 200,000 hours, some 35,000 man hours were spent on the hull and during this phase some 40 unemployed people and school leavers worked on the project.
